Well, I have to play catchup since I was away all weekend on campus for a friend's funeral. It was good. I spent all day with a core group of friends just hanging out and reminiscing and drinking. We even had a Viking funeral. It was good.

Hm...I read a lot of those.  Well, let's go with one of the first historical romances I read.  Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi was one of the books that helped spur my interest in the American Revolution, even though the move The Patriot is what really jump-started that.  Anyway, Rinaldi writes young adult, but even now, just thinking of that book makes me smile.  The historic details are all there and we got a glimpse into a normal family's life during the Revolution...well, if you could call any family normal.  And, of course, being a hopeless romantic, I fell in love with that aspect of the story, as well.  All in all, I highly recommend that story and Rinaldi's other works.  She writes about other time periods, but the Revolution is really my favorite.

I tried to be artistic...and almost got killed by bumblebees.  This building is the Taft Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio.  My mom and I went there one afternoon for an exhibit that had period movie costumes.  It was wonderful!  I saw dresses from the original Pride and Prejudice, the Alan Rickman version of Sense and Sensibility, one of Nicole Kidman's dresses from Far and Away, and tons of others.  It was just absolutely stunning.  Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pictures inside since the Taft is a private home (lame), but the outside is fair game!

Any picture of abused animals.  And that ASPCA commercial with Sara MacLachlan singing in the background.  Gah, I can't watch it.  I want to cry every time I see those poor animals looking at me with their huge, sad/terrified eyes and it's awful because you just know that there are people out there who somehow aren't affected by those eyes and beat them anyway.  I want to take in all of those animals and just love them to pieces, but then I think about how they came to that state and I want to get a cricket bat and give the "owners" a taste of their own medicine.  It isn't fair and it isn't right and still they're sick enough to not realize a damn thing about it.  URGH.

So yeah.  That's my rambly thought without an actual picture.  I can't choose just one to represent all of the abuse.  That wouldn't be fair either.

Plus I'm tired and lazy, so...yeah.

Which is at the end of this month.  If all goes to plan, I'll be going Friday and Saturday with my awesome boyfriend and I hope hope hope hope HOPE that Aaron Dismuke will be there one of those days.  If he's there on Sunday, I won't see him and I'll be very sad.  :(

I will be cosplaying for the first time ever, which is exciting.  I'll be going as Claire Redfield from Resident Evil and then I'll wear the kimono my mommy made for me one Christmas.  I bought zori to complete the outfit today and I hope they come in before I leave.

But aaaahhh!  So excited!  I've been wanting to go to a con for a long time now and I actually have the chance now!

Okay, I thought about this one a few days in advance. My answer used to be Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, but as I've grown up (take that as you will), I've found my tastes to have changed in the literary world. So favorite book is The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

Of course, I can't forget other favorites, though. For manga, it is obviously Fullmetal Alchemist by Arakawa Hiromu.

And my favorite Shakespeare play, that I've actually read, is Henry V.

Oh, goodness gracious.

I don't watch much American TV.  I get bored with the series that last forever and are episodic, like NCIS and House.  Both great shows, and fun, but I can't stay attached to them for long.  BUT...I am addicted to The Office, US version.  My gosh, it's ridiculous fun.

The new Doctor Who is a winner, though.  Fun storylines, if completely cracked out sometimes, fantastic acting (David Tennant come baaaaack), and that sense of wonder and adventure.

For anime, because that is a completely different genre, I go with Cowboy Bebop.  That's one show I can watch over and over again and never get tired of.  The style is so amazing and fresh, even though it's over ten years old, and the music is unique to the story.  And the story!  Heavens, it's so amazing.  I can never say enough about Bebop.   Never.  Samurai Champloo is a very close second.

My generic answer is always Return of the King, or at least has been for a good many years now.  But while I still love LotR, I've kinda grown out of it.  I'm moving more toward the subtle kind of stories.  And for this answer, I'm going to go with Girl With A Pearl Earring.  That movie introduced the world of Vermeer to me and I haven't gone back since.  I have said before and I'll say it again, Vermeer is my favorite artist.
